No matter what industry you’re in, people are your most important asset. Whether you create things, move other people’s things, or provide a service, your people make it happen. On average, leaders spend over 75% of their time dealing with people. And in most businesses, people make up the majority of the costs.
People are also your most appreciable asset. When they get better at what they do, products & services are better, they move faster, and there’s fewer issues to deal with.
According to William J.H. Boetcker, people fall into 4 groups:
- Those who always do less than they are told
- Those who will do what they are told, and no more
- Those who will do things without being told
- Those who will inspire other to do things
It’s up to you.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Trust people and they will be true to you: treat them well and they will show you their greatness.”
Action: Create an environment that inspires people to accomplish great things.
