Human imagination is the most powerful creative force on the planet. Without it, mankind would still be living in caves. (Don’t get me wrong. We’d still have cell phones, but think how bad the coverage would be!)

Remember when we were all kids? (And if you weren’t ever a kid personally, think of someone you know who was…) Back then anything was possible. We weren’t going to have just one swimming pool, we were going to have two – one at our house and one at Johnny’s. So we could swim anytime we wanted. And we weren’t going to just enjoy our stuff, we were going to have great jobs, too. We were going to be doctors, firemen, nurses, astronauts, policemen. We were going to have cool job, doing meaningful work. But over time, things changed. We got more responsible, more realistic. We ‘grew-up’ and put behind us those childish dreams.Sadly, just as we got to the point where we could actually do something about them, start making them a reality in our lives, we stopped dreaming. We stopped believing in such things. (Or better stated, we stopped believing we could have those things in our lives.) Unknowingly, letting go of one of the most important aspects of our lives.

But this creative imagination is the key to great dreams and achievement. As Wayne Dyers says, “For any person to achieve something, they must first expect it of themselves.” How can we ever expect ourselves to achieve something we don’t even believe is possible? How can we ever live the life we really want, if you won’t even admit we’d like it?

But what might happen in our lives if we suspended our disbelief? (Just like we ‘suspend our disbelief’ when we go to be entertained at the movies. We know that it’s not real. We know they’re really just actors, on a set, with props, and stuntmen, etc. But we suspend that disbelief to be entertained.) What if we believed just maybe we could achieve the results we’d really like to get…to live the life we really want to live. Even if it took quite a while and a great deal of effort wouldn’t it be worth it.

If you’d like to talk about harnessing some of those ‘childish ideas’, your creative imagination, to enhance and enrich your life just let me know. I can share some of the ideas that have helped others live the life they’ve always wanted to live.
