It’s (not) always important to know where we stand.
Remember, half the people we know are below average. And that’s just as true for the people that know us. So, on average, what does that say about us? (But there’s no reason to feel bad, because just short of 50% of doctors graduated in the bottom half of their class.)
Even funnier (or is it more funny?) is what ‘average Americans’ believe…
- 94% of us say we are more honest than others (…honestly?)
- 86% of us say we are smarter than others (…ya’ think?)
- 89% of us believe we have more common sense than others (…duh!), and
- Almost 100% of us think we are better drivers than others (…no comment).
This goes right along with the fact that 99% of lawyers give the rest a bad name.
But don’t worry….62.7% of statistics are made up on the spot!
And may 83% of you make next week, at least, 3.4% better than this week.
Note: The average reader spent 28 seconds of their life on this post: 19 seconds to read it and 7 seconds for their laughter to die down (and 2 seconds to realize that 19+7=26 not 28, and that was supposed to be funny, too!)…keep smiling as you think about these ‘facts’ as you interact with others throughout your day. You may be able to show them a bit more grace because you know they don’t think of themselves as ‘average’…just like us!
